Asking God for Wisdom [Healthcare Professional #51]

Asking God for Wisdom [Healthcare Professional #51]

Scripture: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach.” — James 1:5 (ESV)

Devotional

Healthcare decisions are rarely simple. You are often required to process complex information quickly, weigh risks, and make choices that directly impact others. In these moments, knowledge alone is not enough—you need wisdom.

Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge with discernment, clarity, and understanding. It helps you see beyond immediate facts and consider the broader picture, including ethical implications, long-term outcomes, and the needs of those involved.

The good news is that you are not expected to generate wisdom on your own.

God invites you to ask.

He is not reluctant or distant. He gives wisdom generously, without hesitation or judgment. Whether you are facing a major decision or navigating a routine situation, you can turn to Him for guidance.

Asking for wisdom requires humility. It means acknowledging that your understanding is limited and that you need His perspective.

In the fast pace of your work, it may feel difficult to pause. But even a brief moment of prayer can reorient your thinking and bring clarity.

You don’t have to figure everything out alone. God is ready to guide you.

Reflection Questions:

• Do you actively seek God’s wisdom in your decisions?

• What situations currently require greater discernment?

Action Step: Before making a decision today, pause and ask God specifically for wisdom in that moment.

Prayer

Lord, I need Your wisdom. Guide my decisions and help me to see clearly in every situation. Amen.
