Scripture
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
Devotional
Sometimes a large opportunity appears—big revenue, big visibility, big implications. It can be exciting, but also confusing. Is this from God? Is it wise? Will it pull me closer to Him or distract my heart?
Discerning God’s will includes:
Measuring the opportunity against Scripture (Does it require compromise?)
Praying for wisdom, not just results.
Seeking counsel from mature believers who know you.
Paying attention to whether the Spirit gives peace or persistent unease.
God’s Word doesn’t provide a custom answer for every deal, but it does shape your thinking, priorities, and boundaries. As you saturate your mind in Scripture, you become more able to discern what aligns with His heart.
Big opportunities are not automatically blessings. They are tests of trust, obedience, and alignment with God’s purpose.
Reflection Questions
Have I ever chased a big opportunity that later proved spiritually costly?
What role does Scripture play in how I evaluate major decisions?
Is there a current opportunity where I need deeper discernment?
Prayer
Father, shine Your light on my path. Help me evaluate opportunities not just by size, but by alignment with Your will. Give me wisdom, counsel, and courage to say yes or no as You lead. Amen.
