Scripture: “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” — Proverbs 29:25 (ESV)
Devotional
Fear of people’s opinions can quietly control your decisions—fear of a client’s reaction, a manager’s judgment, or a coworker’s criticism. This fear can lead to over-promising, people-pleasing, or avoiding hard but necessary conversations. Scripture calls it a snare—a trap that limits your freedom.
Trusting in the Lord doesn’t remove the importance of human relationships, but it does reorient your priorities. When His approval matters most, you are free to:
• Tell the truth even if it disappoints someone.
• Set boundaries even if they’re not popular.
• Make ethical choices even if others cut corners.
God’s safety is not the absence of conflict; it is the presence of His protection and favor when you choose Him over fear.
Reflection Questions:
· Whose opinion do I fear the most in my work environment?
· How has that fear influenced my choices recently?
· What step of obedience is God asking me to take, even if others disapprove?
Prayer
Lord, free me from the snare of fearing people’s opinions. Help me value Your approval above all else. Give me courage to do what is right, trusting that I am safe in You. Amen.
