Reflecting on Your Calling [Saturday Edition #1]

TDPOW Reflecting on Your Calling (Saturday #1)

Scripture: “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” — Genesis 2:15

Devotional

At the beginning of this journey, it’s important to pause and reflect on a foundational truth: your work is not random—it is part of God’s design for your life. From the very beginning, God created work with purpose. Before sin entered the world, He gave Adam responsibility, stewardship, and meaningful contribution. Work was never meant to be separate from your relationship with Him—it was meant to be an expression of it.

Over the past week, you’ve stepped into your responsibilities, made decisions, interacted with others, and carried out tasks that may have felt routine or even ordinary. But through the lens of Scripture, none of it is insignificant. Every moment held the potential to reflect God’s character—through integrity, service, diligence, and faith.

The question is not whether your work matters, but whether you are seeing it the way God does.

Take time today to reflect: Did you approach your work as a calling or simply as an obligation? Were there moments where you sensed purpose beyond the task itself? Were there opportunities to reflect Christ that you embraced—or missed?

This is not about looking back with guilt, but with clarity. God uses reflection to deepen your awareness and realign your heart. As you consider your week, begin to recognize that your workplace is not separate from your spiritual life—it is one of the primary places where your faith is lived out.

Today is an invitation to step back, see your work through God’s perspective, and realign your heart with His purpose for your calling.

Reflection Questions:

  • When did I see purpose in my work this week beyond just completing tasks?

  • Did I approach my responsibilities as a calling or as something to get through?

  • Where did I reflect Christ well in my work and interactions?

  • Where might God be inviting me to see my work differently?

Action Step: Set aside 10–15 minutes today to reflect on your week. Write down one moment where your work felt meaningful, one area where you struggled to see purpose, and one way you want to approach your work differently next week.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gift of work and the calling You have placed on my life. Help me to see my responsibilities through Your perspective, not just my own. Reveal where I have missed opportunities to live out my faith, and give me clarity moving forward. Realign my heart so that I approach my work with purpose, intention, and a desire to honor You in all that I do. Amen.
