Resting from Striving, Working from Worship [Sunday Edition #2]

Resting from Striving, Working from Worship (Sunday #2)

Rest & Renew

Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

Devotional

If work is meant to be worship, then it must flow from the right place. Worship is not fueled by pressure, performance, or striving—it flows from a heart that is grounded in God’s presence.

That’s why rest matters.

Without rest, work can easily become about proving yourself—trying to meet expectations, gain approval, or maintain control. But God invites you into a different rhythm. A rhythm where you stop striving and remember that He is God—and you are not.

Rest is not the absence of purpose. It is the restoration of perspective.

When you slow down and become still, you are reminded that your worth is not tied to your productivity. You are reminded that God is at work beyond what you can see. You are reminded that your role is to be faithful—not to carry the weight of every outcome.

This is where true worship begins.

As you prepare for the week ahead, don’t rush back into activity without first grounding yourself in His presence. Let your heart be settled before your hands become busy. Let your identity shape your effort.

When you work from a place of rest, your work becomes an overflow—not an obligation.

You are not called to strive for significance. You are called to walk with God—and let your work flow from that relationship.

Reflection Questions:

  • Have I been approaching my work from a place of striving or from a place of trust?

  • What pressures am I carrying that God is asking me to release?

  • Do I truly believe that God is at work even when I am not?

  • What would it look like to begin this week from a place of stillness and dependence on Him?

Action Step: Spend a few quiet minutes today in stillness before God. No agenda—just intentionally being present with Him. As you do, release any pressure you’ve been carrying into His hands.

Prayer

Lord, help me to slow down and rest in Your presence. Teach me to release the pressure to strive and to trust that You are in control. Remind me that my work is not about proving myself, but about walking with You. As I prepare for the week ahead, anchor me in Your peace so that my work flows from worship and not from striving. Amen.
