Seeing Your Work as Worship [Saturday Edition #2]

Seeing Your Work as Worship (Saturday #2)

Reflect & Realign

Scripture: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23

Devotional

It’s easy to separate the sacred from the ordinary—to think of worship as something that happens in a church service while work happens everywhere else. But Scripture presents a very different picture. Worship is not confined to a place or a moment; it is expressed through the posture of your heart in everything you do.

That includes your work.

Throughout this past week, you carried out responsibilities, made decisions, interacted with others, and navigated both routine and unexpected moments. Some of those may have felt meaningful, while others may have felt repetitive or unnoticed. But when seen through God’s perspective, none of it was insignificant.

Work becomes worship when your heart is aligned with Him.

It’s not just about what you did—it’s about how you did it. Did you approach your responsibilities with integrity, diligence, and a desire to honor God? Did you treat others with patience and respect? Did you remain faithful even in the small or unseen tasks?

Worship is revealed in the quiet choices: choosing honesty when it’s difficult, excellence when no one is watching, and faithfulness when results feel uncertain.

Today is an opportunity to reflect on your work through this lens. Not to evaluate your performance, but to examine your posture. God is not just interested in what you accomplish—He cares about the heart you bring to it.

When your work is done for Him, even the most ordinary moments become sacred.

Reflection Questions:

  • When did I approach my work this week with a mindset of honoring God?

  • Were there moments where my attitude or effort did not reflect Him?

  • How did I handle tasks that felt routine or unnoticed?

  • What would it look like for me to more intentionally view my work as worship?

Action Step: Choose one regular responsibility you’ll have this coming week. Before you begin it, pause and intentionally dedicate that task to God as an act of worship.

Prayer

Lord, help me to see my work through Your perspective. Teach me to approach every responsibility with a heart that honors You. Forgive me for the moments when my attitude or effort did not reflect Your character. Shape my heart so that even the smallest tasks become acts of worship. May everything I do bring glory to You. Amen.
