Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:13 — “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man… He will also provide the way of escape…”
Devotional
The workplace is a place of opportunity—but also a place of temptation. You may face temptations toward dishonesty, envy, gossip, anger, impurity, greed, or resentment. In weak moments, it can feel like those temptations are unique or overwhelming.
Scripture reassures you: temptation is “common to man.” You are not alone, and you are not powerless. God promises to be faithful—to limit the temptation and to provide a “way of escape” so you can endure it. That escape might be a change of subject, a decision to walk away, a silent prayer, accountability, or a firm “no.”
You are not defined by your temptations. In Christ, you are empowered to resist them. The workplace can become a place where God’s power is made visible as you choose obedience over compromise, even when others don’t.
Reflection Questions:
What temptations do you most often face in your work environment?
What “ways of escape” has God already provided that you can lean into more intentionally?
Who could support you in walking faithfully in these areas?
Prayer
Lord, You know the temptations I face at work. Thank You for promising a way of escape. Help me recognize it and choose obedience. Strengthen me to honor You with my thoughts, words, and actions today. Amen.
