The Courage to Do the Right Thing First [Residential Broker #84]

The Courage to Do the Right Thing First [Residential Broker #84]

Scripture: “Whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” — James 4:17 (ESV)

Devotional

Integrity is not only avoiding wrong—it is doing right. Sometimes the hardest part of integrity is simply going first: apologizing first, clarifying first, addressing conflict first, taking responsibility first, or communicating the truth first.

Waiting for others to act often leads to resentment. But choosing to go first demonstrates humility, courage, and spiritual maturity. It says, “I value righteousness more than pride.”

Doing the right thing first may feel unfair, especially if others are at fault. But God honors obedience and uses your first step to open doors for healing, resolution, and restoration.

Integrity is proactive, not reactive. It reflects a heart aligned with God’s will, willing to lead in righteousness even when no one else will.

Reflection Questions:

·       What right action have I been delaying?

·       Which relationship or situation needs me to “go first”?

·       How might obedience change the atmosphere?

Prayer

Lord, give me courage to do the right thing first. Help me act with humility and obedience, trusting You with the outcome. Amen.
