Scripture: “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” — Proverbs 25:28 (ESV)
Devotional
Real estate is filled with emotional moments—tense negotiations, demanding clients, sudden changes, unexpected bad news, delays in closing, and financial stress. Without emotional control, these moments can reshape your responses, weaken your witness, and damage your relationships. Proverbs paints a vivid picture: a person without self-control is like a city with no walls—defenseless, vulnerable, easily influenced.
Emotional control is not suppression; it is Spirit-led strength. It means you pause, breathe, and respond in wisdom rather than impulse. It means refusing to send the angry text, choosing patience over irritation, and maintaining peace when others escalate tension.
The Holy Spirit empowers you to control your reactions. This is integrity not just of behavior, but of heart.
When you respond with calm maturity—even when you feel frustrated—people see Christ in you. Your steadiness becomes a refuge for anxious clients and a testimony to the Spirit at work within you.
Reflection Questions:
· What situation this week has tested my emotions the most?
· How can I create space for the Holy Spirit before responding?
· Who needs a calm, Christlike response from me today?
Prayer
Lord, strengthen my emotional self-control. Guard my heart, guide my reactions, and help me respond with wisdom, gentleness, and patience. Amen.
