About The Divine Purpose of Work

Work Was Never Meant to Be Separate from Faith

For many believers, work is where they spend the majority of their waking hours—and yet it is often the place where faith feels the most disconnected.

The Divine Purpose of Work exists to change that.

We believe work is not merely a means to an income or an obligation to endure until something “more spiritual” begins. According to Scripture, work is a sacred calling—designed by God, entrusted to humanity, and intended to be a primary arena where faith is lived out, character is formed, and God’s purposes are advanced.

From the very beginning, God placed Adam in the garden “to work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15). Long before the fall, before churches or mission fields or ministries as we know them today, work was part of God’s good design. And through Christ, our daily work—whatever our profession—can once again become an act of worship, service, and witness.

Our Mission

The Divine Purpose of Work helps individuals, students, business owners, churches, and schools understand and live out the biblical purpose of work.

We do this by providing Scripture-rooted teaching, practical tools, and profession-specific resources that equip believers to integrate their faith into their everyday work—faithfully, ethically, and intentionally.

Our mission is not to tell people to leave their jobs to serve God, but to help them see that God has already placed them exactly where their faith is meant to be lived out.

A Program Built for the Real World

The Divine Purpose of Work is not theoretical or abstract. It was developed for real people facing real workplace pressures—ethical dilemmas, performance expectations, leadership challenges, career transitions, and questions of purpose.

Through a growing library of resources, we help people:

  • Understand what the Bible teaches about work, calling, and stewardship

  • See their profession as a platform for service, integrity, and influence

  • Apply biblical wisdom to daily decisions and long-term career direction

  • Lead, serve, and work in ways that honor Christ and bless others

Our resources include:

  • The Divine Purpose of Work foundational teachings

  • Profession-specific eBooks and devotionals

  • Study guides for individuals, small groups, teams, and classrooms

  • Daily and weekly devotional content

  • Online courses and certifications

  • Tools for churches and Christian schools to equip their members and students

Each resource is designed to be biblically grounded, practical, and accessible, meeting people where they are in their work and stage of life.

For Every Calling and Every Season

The Divine Purpose of Work serves a wide range of audiences, including:

  • Individuals and professionals seeking clarity, meaning, and faith integration

  • Students preparing to choose a career and enter the workforce with a biblical worldview

  • Business owners and leaders striving to lead ethically and faithfully

  • Churches seeking to disciple believers beyond Sunday and into Monday

  • Christian schools and educators teaching students a biblical understanding of work

Whether someone is just beginning their career, leading an organization, navigating a transition, or mentoring others, our goal is to help them see work through the lens of God’s greater purpose.

Workplace Ministries, Inc.

The Divine Purpose of Work is a program of Workplace Ministries, Inc., a nonprofit organization established to serve the Church by equipping believers for faithful witness in the workplace.

Workplace Ministries, Inc. exists to:

  • Educate believers about the biblical meaning of work

  • Encourage Christians to live out their faith in their daily vocations

  • Enable churches, schools, and organizations to disciple people for the workplace

As a nonprofit ministry, our focus is impact, not profit. Our resources are offered freely through a pay-it-forward model so that churches, schools, and individuals can access them regardless of financial means.

Why This Matters

Most Christians will never stand behind a pulpit or serve overseas as missionaries—but every believer is sent into the workplace every day.

When Christians understand the divine purpose of work, everything changes:

  • Work becomes meaningful, even when it is difficult

  • Ethics become non-negotiable, even when they are costly

  • Influence becomes intentional, not accidental

  • Faith becomes visible, not compartmentalized

We believe that a renewed understanding of work is essential to the Church’s witness in today’s world.

An Invitation

The Divine Purpose of Work is more than a website or a set of resources—it is an invitation to live differently.

An invitation to see your work as sacred.
An invitation to serve faithfully where God has placed you.
An invitation to participate in God’s redemptive work through your daily vocation.

We invite you to explore, learn, and join us as we seek to restore a biblical vision of work—for the glory of God and the good of others.
