A Heart of Gratitude [Healthcare Professional #147]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." — 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
Devotional
It's easy to become so focused on what's difficult that we overlook God's daily blessings. Long hours, staffing shortages, administrative burdens, and emotionally draining situations can slowly shift our attention away from God's constant provision.
Gratitude helps restore our perspective.
Each day offers countless reasons to thank God—a patient's improvement, a supportive coworker, wisdom during a difficult decision, the privilege of using your skills to serve others, or simply the strength to complete another shift. These gifts often seem ordinary until we intentionally notice them.
Gratitude doesn't ignore hardship; it recognizes God's faithfulness within it. Even when circumstances remain challenging, God's presence never changes. He continues providing wisdom, strength, comfort, and opportunities to reflect His love.
A thankful heart also guards against discouragement. It reminds you that your calling remains meaningful and that God is continually working, even when progress seems slow or unseen.
Before ending your day, pause and thank God for the ways He was present. As gratitude grows, so does your awareness of His goodness.
