A Name Worth Protecting [Real Estate Dev #36]

Scripture: “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” — Proverbs 22:1 (ESV)

Devotional

In the world of development, reputation can feel like currency. A trusted name can open doors, attract investors, and secure deals. But Proverbs 22:1 reminds us that a good name is not just an asset—it’s a reflection of character. It is worth more than wealth, because it carries spiritual, relational, and generational weight.

Your name is more than your brand. It’s what others associate with your decisions, your word, and your witness. When integrity governs your choices, your name becomes a symbol of stability and trust. When shortcuts, arrogance, or inconsistency take root, even impressive achievements can’t cover the damage. Reputations are built over years—but they can be fractured in a single moment.

Protecting your name doesn’t mean managing appearances—it means living faithfully. The goal is not perfection, but consistency. When mistakes happen, own them. When pressure rises, stay grounded. When tempted to compromise, remember what you’re really stewarding. Your name isn’t just yours—it reflects the Name you represent.

Whether your circle is small or large, your name carries influence. Live in such a way that your name points people to Christ—not because of flawless results, but because of faith-filled integrity.

Reflection Questions:

  • What does my name represent to those who work with me?

  • Am I more concerned with managing appearances or with living truthfully?

  • How can I guard my reputation without becoming image-driven?

Prayer

Lord, help me to value a good name over personal gain. May my reputation reflect Your truth, grace, and faithfulness. Let my work and words bring honor to You. Amen.
