Accountability Before God [Accountant #9]

Scripture: “So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.” — Romans 14:12

Devotional

Accountability is a familiar concept in accounting, yet Scripture reminds us that our ultimate accountability is not to supervisors, clients, or institutions—but to God Himself.

This truth is not meant to produce fear, but clarity. When you remember that God sees every decision, motive, and action, your work becomes grounded in integrity rather than image management.

Accountability before God invites honesty with yourself. It encourages reflection, repentance when needed, and humility in success. It also frees you from the exhausting pursuit of human approval.

When you work with an awareness of God’s presence, your decisions gain weight and meaning. You are no longer navigating ethics alone—you are walking before a faithful and just God who guides, forgives, and strengthens.

Reflection Questions

  1. How does remembering God’s presence shape your work decisions?

  2. Are there areas where greater accountability would strengthen your integrity?

Prayer

God, help me live and work with an awareness of Your presence. Let my decisions honor You and reflect my trust in Your guidance. Amen.
