Advocating for What Is Right [Healthcare Professional #36]

Advocating for What Is Right [Healthcare Professional #36]

Scripture: “Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” — Proverbs 31:9 (ESV)

Devotional

Advocacy is a critical part of healthcare. Patients often rely on you to speak up on their behalf, especially when they are vulnerable, overwhelmed, or unable to advocate for themselves.

Advocacy requires courage.

It may mean asking hard questions, addressing concerns, or challenging decisions that don’t align with what is best for the patient.

This can feel uncomfortable, especially in hierarchical environments or under pressure. But your role is not just to follow—it is to serve with integrity.

God calls you to stand for what is right, even when it is difficult.

Advocating for others reflects His heart. It demonstrates compassion, justice, and care.

Your voice matters.

Use it wisely and courageously.

Reflection Questions:

• Are there situations where you hesitate to speak up?

• What gives you the confidence to advocate for others?

Action Step: Speak up today if you notice something that could improve care or protect a patient.

Prayer

Father, give me courage to advocate for what is right. Help me to speak with wisdom and boldness. Amen.
