Serving well doesn’t start with talking; it starts with listening—and asking good questions. Clients often come with a defined requirement: square footage, location, term, budget. But beneath those metrics sits something deeper: business goals, personal fears, growth plans, culture, calling.
When you ask thoughtful questions—“What are you really hoping this move accomplishes?” “What’s keeping you up at night about this decision?” “How does this space fit your long-term vision?”—you draw out what truly matters. That insight allows you to serve them far better than if you just rushed to send options.
Jesus was a master at asking questions that went beneath the surface. He wasn’t gathering data; He was reaching hearts. In a similar way, your questions can reveal what’s at stake beyond the numbers.
Don’t be content to just fill a requirement. Seek to understand the person behind it.

Holy Spirit, give me the wisdom to ask the right questions. Help me listen well so I can understand and serve the deeper needs of those I advise. Amen.
