Avoiding Burnout Through Dependence on God [Accountant #132]

Scripture

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” — Isaiah 40:31

Devotional

Burnout rarely happens suddenly. It often develops gradually through prolonged stress, constant pressure, and trying to carry more than you were meant to carry alone.

In accounting, seasons of intensity can easily become ongoing patterns. Long hours, heavy workloads, and continual deadlines may create the feeling that you must always push harder to keep up.

But God never intended for your strength to come solely from yourself.

Scripture points you toward dependence on Him. True renewal is not found only in time off or reduced workload—it begins with reconnecting to the source of your strength. When you continually operate without spiritual renewal, exhaustion deepens.

Dependence on God changes how you carry responsibility. Instead of striving endlessly in your own strength, you learn to work faithfully while remaining spiritually grounded. You begin to recognize when you need to pause, pray, and realign your heart.

Burnout often comes from carrying burdens God never asked you to carry alone.

Today, bring your weariness to Him and allow His strength to renew you.

Reflection Questions

What signs of burnout or exhaustion am I currently experiencing?

Where am I relying too heavily on my own strength?

What helps me stay spiritually renewed during demanding seasons?

Action Step

Pause during your workday today for a few minutes of quiet prayer, intentionally releasing your stress and asking God for renewed strength.

Prayer

Father, renew my strength today. Help me depend on You rather than my own ability, and protect my heart from burnout and exhaustion. Amen.
