Being Generous with Your Expertise [Banker #133]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.” — 1 Peter 4:10.
Devotional
Years spent in banking develop knowledge that many people simply do not possess.
You understand financial statements, lending, credit, cash management, risk, savings, and financial systems. What seems ordinary to you may be extremely valuable to someone else.
God did not give you knowledge merely for personal advancement.
Your expertise can become a form of service.
You may help a younger colleague understand something that took you years to learn. You may explain a financial concept patiently to a client who feels intimidated. You may encourage a small-business owner who needs guidance. You may volunteer your knowledge to a nonprofit, church, or community organization.
Generosity involves more than money. You can be generous with knowledge, time, relationships, experience, and encouragement.
Some professionals guard expertise because they believe knowledge gives them leverage. Kingdom-minded professionals recognize knowledge as something entrusted to them for the benefit of others.
Teaching someone else does not diminish your value. It multiplies your influence.
Consider the experience God has allowed you to accumulate. Someone around you may benefit greatly from something you now take for granted.
