In some development environments, it’s not uncommon to hear of "under-the-table incentives," unspoken expectations, or political favors that grease the wheels of progress. While this may be normalized in certain circles, Scripture is clear: bribery corrupts justice and clouds discernment. God’s standard is unwavering—righteousness must not be for sale.
Bribery takes many forms. It may be a favor with strings attached, an unusually generous gift to a decision-maker, or a side agreement that circumvents proper process. Even if it’s legal, it may not be ethical. God cares not only about outcomes, but about how those outcomes are achieved. When you choose transparency and fairness—even at the cost of speed or access—you honor the Lord and protect your testimony.
It takes courage to resist the gravitational pull of backroom deals. You may lose out on a project, be labeled difficult, or be shut out of certain networks. But your integrity is more valuable than any contract. What you build with honor cannot be shaken by scandal. And in due time, your consistency will speak louder than any shortcut ever could.
Your influence as a developer is not just in what you produce, but in how you participate. Build with clean hands, clear processes, and a heart that seeks justice.

Have I ever been tempted to “look the other way” in order to get something approved faster?
What gray areas do I need to clarify with God’s truth?
How can I protect my integrity in both formal and informal dealings?
Prayer
God, protect me from the pull of dishonest gain. Keep me grounded in Your justice. Give me the strength to do what’s right—even when no one else seems to. I want to build with honor. Amen.
