Scripture: Romans 3:23 — “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…”
Devotional
Every workplace is filled with people who, like you, are broken by sin. That includes bosses, coworkers, customers, students, patients, clients—and you. This reality explains why conflict, miscommunication, selfishness, pride, and dishonesty show up at work.
Instead of being surprised when people fail, Scripture prepares you for it. We “all have sinned.” That doesn’t excuse hurtful behavior, but it helps you respond with realistic expectations and Christlike grace. You can be firm without being cruel, wise without becoming cynical, truthful without losing compassion.
Recognizing sin’s presence at work also keeps you humble. It’s easy to focus on other people’s faults and ignore your own attitudes, words, and choices. The gospel reminds you that you are in constant need of grace—and called to extend that grace to others.
Reflection Questions:
How have you recently seen the effects of sin in your workplace—through others and through yourself?
Where do you need to repent of attitudes or actions that have not reflected Christ?
How can you respond to others’ failures with both truth and grace?
Prayer
Lord, I work among broken people, and I am one of them. Forgive me where I have fallen short in my words, attitudes, or actions. Help me extend the same grace to others that You have shown to me. Amen.
