Building Trust Through Reliability [Sales Professional #52]

Scripture: “Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.” — Matthew 5:37 (ESV)

Devotional

Trust is the currency of healthy sales relationships, and reliability is one of the fastest ways to earn it. When you consistently do what you said you would do—call when you promised, send what you committed to send, show up when you said you’d be there—you communicate respect and dependability.

Jesus taught that our “yes” and “no” should be enough. In other words, your promises shouldn’t need to be backed with elaborate assurances. Over time, people should simply know: If they said it, they’ll do it.

Reliability doesn’t demand perfection—life happens. But even when change is unavoidable, reliability communicates quickly, clearly, and honestly. It doesn’t leave people guessing or chasing you for updates.

In a world full of no-shows, broken promises, and vague commitments, your reliability will point people to a God who always keeps His word.

Reflection Questions:

·       Would my clients and coworkers describe me as reliable?

·       Are there any commitments I’ve made that I still need to fulfill or update?

·       What small step today can strengthen my reputation for keeping my word?

Prayer

Father, help my “yes” mean yes and my “no” mean no. Make me reliable in every area of my work so that others can trust me and ultimately see Your faithfulness through me. Amen.
