Character That Outlives Your Career [Commercial Broker #40]

Character That Outlives Your Career [Commercial Broker #40]

Scripture: “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.” — Proverbs 22:1 (ESV)

Devotional

Someday, your brokerage career will end. You’ll step back from deals, hand relationships to others, and watch a new generation take the lead. When that day comes, what will remain? Not your production reports or commission records—but your name.

Your “name” in Scripture represents your character, your reputation, the story people tell when you’re not in the room. Did you keep your word? Did you treat people fairly? Did you blend in with the industry’s worst habits or quietly model something different? Did clients and colleagues feel safe with you because your character was consistent?

God says a good name is more valuable than riches. You can make a lot of money and leave behind a trail of hurt and distrust—or you can live and work in such a way that, when your career closes, people give thanks you were part of their story.

Reflection Questions:

·       If my career ended today, what would people say about the way I conducted myself?

·       What is one specific character trait I want God to deepen in me for the sake of the “name” I leave behind?

Prayer

Lord, shape my character to be worth more than any commission or accolade. Help me build a name marked by integrity, kindness, and faithfulness, so that long after my deals are forgotten, my life still points to You. Amen.
