Scripture: “Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor.” — Ephesians 4:25 (ESV)
Devotional
In banking, pressure is real. Targets must be met. Numbers must align. Clients expect favorable outcomes. Leadership expects performance.
In these moments, the temptation can arise to adjust the narrative—soften the truth, omit key details, or present information in a way that benefits the outcome rather than reflects reality.
But truth is not flexible.
As a follower of Christ, your commitment to truth must remain steady regardless of pressure. Truth builds trust. Truth honors God. Truth protects both you and those you serve.
Speaking truth may sometimes cost you—missed opportunities, difficult conversations, or uncomfortable moments. But compromise carries a far greater cost over time.
When you consistently choose truth, you establish a foundation that cannot be shaken. People may not always agree with you, but they will learn to trust you.
And more importantly, you remain aligned with God.
Today, when pressure comes, choose truth—not convenience.
Reflection Questions:
• Where do I feel pressure to adjust or soften the truth?
• How do I respond when honesty creates discomfort?
• What would it look like to consistently choose truth?
Action Step: Speak clearly and honestly in one situation today where you might normally soften the message.
Prayer
Lord, give me courage to speak truth in every situation. Help me to honor You with my words, even when it is difficult. Strengthen my commitment to honesty. Amen.
