In healthcare, the instinct is often to act quickly—to assess, diagnose, and respond. While this is necessary, compassion often begins not with action, but with listening.
Listening is one of the most powerful expressions of care.
When patients speak, they are not only sharing symptoms—they are expressing fears, concerns, and emotions. When you listen attentively, you communicate that their voice matters.
Jesus consistently listened before responding. He allowed people to share their stories, even when He already understood their needs.
You are called to do the same.
Listening requires patience. It requires setting aside assumptions and focusing on what is being said. It creates space for understanding and builds trust.
When you listen first, your care becomes more informed and more personal.
You may not always have time for long conversations—but even brief moments of intentional listening can make a difference.
Today, let compassion begin with listening.
