Compassion and wisdom must work together.
As a banker, you will often encounter people facing difficult financial situations. Their struggles may stir compassion in your heart—and rightly so. But compassion without wisdom can lead to unhealthy decisions, while wisdom without compassion can become cold and transactional.
Jesus demonstrated both perfectly.
He cared deeply for people while still speaking truth and exercising discernment. In the same way, God calls you to balance empathy with sound judgment.
This means listening carefully, treating people with dignity, and genuinely caring about their well-being while still maintaining integrity and wise boundaries.
Sometimes the most loving response is not simply giving people what they want, but helping guide them toward what is truly wise and beneficial.
Today, ask God to help you serve others with both compassion and discernment.
