Confession and Cleansing [Real Estate Dev #37]

Scripture: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9 (ESV)

Devotional

Even the most faithful developer will falter at times—speak too harshly, cut a corner, neglect prayer, or allow pride to take over. But the Gospel offers something the marketplace never does: full forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 promises that when we confess our sins, God does not shame or scold us—He forgives and cleanses.

Confession is not weakness. It’s worship. It declares that we trust God’s grace more than our image. In the development world, where confidence and control are prized, admitting fault may feel like professional suicide. But in God’s Kingdom, confession is a pathway to restoration, healing, and renewed strength.

Sin tolerated becomes sin normalized. But sin confessed becomes sin broken. Whether it’s a private attitude or a public failure, confession allows God to remove the weight of guilt and reestablish peace. It also models humility to those around you—team members, partners, clients—who need to see what godly leadership looks like in real time.

Don't carry secret burdens that Christ already died to lift. Bring your missteps into the light. God will not reject you—He will restore you.

Reflection Questions:

  • Is there anything I need to confess today—before God or someone else?

  • Have I allowed small compromises to become patterns?

  • What would it look like to lead with humility and repentance?

Prayer

Father, I bring my failures to You. Forgive me, cleanse me, and restore me. Thank You that Your grace is stronger than my sin. Help me walk forward in integrity and joy. Amen.
