Contentment in a Culture of More [Financial Advisor #52]

Scripture: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have…” — Hebrews 13:5

Devotional

The financial world often thrives on the idea that more is always better—more assets, more growth, more success. But Scripture points us toward a different posture: contentment.

Contentment is not complacency. It’s not a lack of ambition. It’s a deep trust that God is enough—and that what He provides is sufficient.

As an advisor, you regularly guide clients toward financial goals. But alongside that, you have the opportunity to model and encourage something deeper: a life not driven by endless accumulation, but by purpose and peace.

Contentment protects your heart. It keeps success from becoming your identity and wealth from becoming your security.

When you are content, you are free—free to serve, free to give, and free to live without the constant pressure of “more.”

Reflection Questions:

  1. In what ways does the pursuit of “more” influence your thinking or decisions?

  2. How can you model contentment in your professional and personal life?

  3. How might you gently guide clients toward a healthier view of success?

Prayer

Father, teach me to be content in You. Guard my heart from the love of money and help me live with gratitude and trust.
