Courageous Leadership [Real Estate Dev #187]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed.” — Joshua 1:9.
Devotional
Leadership often requires decisions that would be easier to avoid.
A project needs to be stopped.
A partner needs to be confronted.
An employee needs honest feedback.
An investor needs difficult news.
A city must hear why a proposed requirement is unreasonable.
Courage is not the absence of discomfort.
It is the willingness to do what is right despite discomfort.
God told Joshua to be strong and courageous because the assignment before him would require both.
Your development responsibilities may look very different, but leadership still demands courage.
Courage without wisdom becomes recklessness.
Wisdom without courage becomes inactivity.
Mature leadership requires both.
When a difficult decision is necessary, prepare thoroughly. Seek counsel. Pray. Make sure your motives are right.
Then act.
Do not allow fear of criticism or conflict to delay what faithful leadership requires.
People do not need leaders who never experience fear.
They need leaders whose convictions are stronger than their fear.
God's presence with Joshua was the foundation of his courage.
It can be the foundation of yours as well.
Reflection Questions
What decision have I been avoiding because it is uncomfortable?
Is fear of criticism affecting my leadership?
What would courageous faithfulness look like today?
