Discernment in Success [Real Estate Dev #190]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
“You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth.” — Deuteronomy 8:18.
Devotional
Failure tests faith.
Success tests it differently.
When projects succeed, capital becomes available, opportunities multiply, and others begin seeking your leadership.
Success can quietly change the way you see yourself.
You begin attributing outcomes primarily to your intelligence, experience, or skill.
Israel received a similar warning. Prosperity could cause them to forget the God who made prosperity possible.
Developers need this reminder.
Your expertise matters.
Your discipline matters.
Your relationships matter.
But every ability, opportunity, market condition, and successful outcome ultimately exists within God's provision.
Gratitude protects success from becoming pride.
So does stewardship.
Success asks a new question: What will you do with what God has now entrusted to you?
More influence creates more responsibility.
More capital creates more stewardship.
More opportunity requires greater discernment.
Do not allow success to reduce your dependence upon God.
Let it deepen your gratitude to Him.
The safest time to remember the Source of your strength is when everything seems to be going well.
Reflection Questions
How does success affect my dependence on God?
Have recent accomplishments increased gratitude or pride?
What new responsibility accompanies the influence God has given me?
Action Step
Identify one recent success and deliberately thank God for the specific people, circumstances, and abilities He used to make it possible.
Prayer
Lord, keep me humble in success. Help me remember that every opportunity and ability ultimately comes from You, and teach me to steward increased influence faithfully. Amen.
