Discipline in Managing Your Time [Accountant #156]

Scripture

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” — Ephesians 5:15–16

Devotional

Time is one of the most valuable resources God has entrusted to you. In accounting, where deadlines, competing priorities, and constant demands are common, managing time wisely becomes an essential part of faithful stewardship.

Poor time management often leads to unnecessary stress, rushed decisions, and reduced attentiveness. But disciplined use of time creates space for excellence, peace, and healthier rhythms.

Wisdom in time management is not simply about productivity—it is about priorities. It means recognizing what matters most and aligning your energy accordingly. It also means acknowledging your limitations and resisting the temptation to overcommit continually.

Jesus lived with intentionality. Though many demands surrounded Him, He remained focused on the work God had given Him to do. His example reminds you that wise stewardship sometimes requires saying no to distractions in order to remain faithful to your calling.

Managing time well also creates margin for relationships, spiritual renewal, and rest. Without intentional discipline, urgent responsibilities can slowly crowd out what is most important.

Today, approach your schedule as something to steward wisely rather than simply survive.

Reflection Questions

  • Where do I most often waste time or lose focus?

  • How does poor time management affect my peace and effectiveness?

  • What priorities need greater intentionality in my schedule?

Action Step

Before beginning your workday, identify the most important responsibility you need to focus on and intentionally give it your best attention first.

Prayer

Lord, help me steward my time wisely. Give me discipline, focus, and clarity so I can use each day faithfully and purposefully. Amen.
