Doing the Right Thing When No One Sees [Attorney #56]

Listen to devotional here.

Scripture: “And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” — Matthew 6:4b (ESV)

Devotional

In the legal profession, public wins are easy to celebrate—verdicts, deals, promotions, accolades. But much of your most meaningful work happens in quiet corners: telling a client the hard truth, refusing to cut corners, staying late to revise what no one else will notice.

And it’s in those moments—the secret ones—that your character is being shaped most deeply.

Jesus reminds us that our Father sees in secret. He sees the ethical decision you made when no one would’ve known otherwise. He sees the refusal to bill unfairly. He sees the prayer whispered before the courtroom door. He sees what your firm doesn’t reward—and He will reward it.

The life of faith is not measured in headlines, but in hidden obedience. God is not looking for spotlight Christians. He’s looking for faithful ones.

Your quiet righteousness, your unseen sacrifices, your integrity behind closed doors—they matter. Eternally.

So press on. Even when no one’s watching. Especially when no one’s watching.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Are you tempted to overlook the importance of the unseen parts of your legal work?

  2. How does knowing God sees in secret reframe your sense of motivation?

  3. What private act of obedience might the Lord be inviting you into today?

Prayer

Father, thank You that You see what no one else does. Help me walk in integrity when no one is watching. Let my faithfulness in secret bring glory to You alone.
