Scripture: “Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.” — Romans 12:15 (ESV)
Devotional
Sales isn’t just about logic and numbers; it’s about people with real emotions, pressures, and stories. Empathy—the ability to genuinely feel with others—is a powerful way to reflect Christ in your work.
When a client is excited about a breakthrough, you rejoice with them. When they’re frustrated or under pressure, you respond with understanding instead of impatience. When they face constraints or internal challenges, you slow down and try to see things from their perspective.
Empathy doesn’t mean you always agree, but it does mean you always care. It transforms difficult negotiations into human conversations and turns transactional meetings into relational moments.
Jesus deeply felt with people—He wept, celebrated, and entered their pain. When you bring empathy into the sales process, you reflect His heart.
Reflection Questions:
· Do I tend to focus more on my agenda than on my client’s emotional reality?
· When was the last time I truly “felt with” a client or coworker?
· How can I show empathy in a current situation at work?
Prayer
Jesus, give me Your heart for people. Help me slow down enough to care, understand, and respond with empathy. Use my compassion to build trust and reflect Your love. Amen.
