Endurance That Honors God [Attorney #60]

Listen to devotional here.

Scripture: “Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus…” — Hebrews 12:1b–2a (ESV)

Devotional

Some seasons of legal work feel like sprints—urgent, focused, demanding. But many seasons are marathons. Long hours, slow-moving cases, relational strain, spiritual fatigue.

Hebrews invites you not just to run, but to run with endurance.

Endurance isn’t grit. It’s grace-fueled perseverance. It’s staying the course not by your own strength, but by fixing your eyes on Jesus.

When the deadlines stack. When the case drags on. When the passion fades. When the spiritual fire cools—look to Him. The One who endured the cross. Who never gave up. Who now sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for you.

Your calling as an attorney may require long, faithful obedience in the same direction. You may not see fruit quickly. You may not feel inspired every day. But endurance honors God.

Not because it’s flashy—but because it’s faithful.

You’re not running alone. You’re surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. And you’re sustained by the One who never fails.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Where are you currently feeling weary in your legal calling?

  2. How can focusing on Jesus—rather than just the work—renew your strength?

  3. Who can encourage you to stay the course?

Prayer

Jesus, give me endurance for the race You’ve called me to run. Lift my eyes above the grind. Let me find joy not in the pace—but in Your presence with me as I run. Amen.
