Scripture: “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” — 1 Corinthians 4:2
Devotional
At the end of a workweek, it’s natural to evaluate how things went. What did you accomplish? What didn’t get done? What moved forward—and what didn’t?
But there’s a deeper question God invites you to ask: Was I faithful?
The world measures success by results—outcomes, achievements, recognition, and progress. But God measures differently. He looks beyond what was produced and examines how you lived, how you trusted, and how you stewarded what was placed in your hands.
Think back over your week.
There may have been moments where your efforts led to visible success. There may also have been moments where things didn’t go as planned—where results fell short despite your best effort. In both cases, the question remains the same: Were you faithful?
Faithfulness shows up in the unseen places:
Choosing integrity when it would be easier not to
Giving your best effort even when no one notices
Trusting God when outcomes are uncertain
Following His prompting even when it feels risky
God has not asked you to control outcomes—He has asked you to steward what He has entrusted to you.
Today is an opportunity to shift your perspective. Instead of measuring your week by what you accomplished, measure it by how you showed up—with trust, obedience, and consistency.
When your focus is faithfulness, you are freed from the pressure of results and invited into a deeper trust in God’s work beyond what you can see.
Reflection Questions:
Where did I focus most on results rather than faithfulness this week?
In what moments did I choose integrity, trust, or obedience regardless of outcome?
Were there situations where I became discouraged because results didn’t meet expectations?
How might God be inviting me to redefine success in my work?
Action Step: Write down one situation from this past week where results didn’t meet your expectations. Then identify how you were faithful in that situation—or how you can be moving forward.
Prayer
Lord, help me to shift my focus from results to faithfulness. Teach me to trust You with outcomes and to remain obedient in what You have called me to do. Free me from the pressure to measure my worth by what I produce, and anchor me in a desire to be faithful in all things. Amen.
