Devotional
Excellence can draw attention—to your skill, your brand, your results. But for the Christian broker, excellence is meant to be a signpost that points beyond you to God.
When people see your consistency, integrity, and diligence, some will ask, “What drives you?” That’s your opportunity—not to boast, but to gently point to the One who empowers you. Your goal is not to hoard glory but to redirect it. “Whatever good you see in me,” you might say in some form, “is because of the grace of God at work in my life.”
This doesn’t mean you constantly preach in every conversation. It means your attitude toward excellence is humble: you recognize that every skill, opportunity, and breath comes from Him. As you shine in your work, you want people ultimately to “give glory to your Father.”
Reflection Questions
When people compliment my work, do I subtly use it to feed my ego—or to honor God?
How might I more naturally and appropriately point others to Him when my excellence is noticed?
Prayer
Father, let any light in my work point back to You. Guard me from pride, and use my excellence as an invitation for others to see Your goodness and grace. Amen.
