Scripture: “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” — Psalm 139:23 (ESV)
Devotional
In the rush of development, self-reflection can be neglected. Deadlines demand more. Decisions move fast. But the health of your projects will never outpace the health of your soul. Psalm 139:23 offers a brave prayer: “Search me, O God.” It’s an invitation for the Spirit to examine your motives, reveal blind spots, and realign your inner life.
It takes courage to ask God to uncover hidden pride, ambition, fear, or compromise. But that’s where true growth begins. Left unexamined, the heart can rationalize anything. You might begin to think your value lies in your success, that cutting a corner was justified, or that prayer is only for emergencies. Without regular spiritual reflection, your compass drifts—and so does your integrity.
God doesn’t search you to condemn you. He searches to restore you. He desires a leader whose public influence flows from private surrender. When you face the truth about yourself, you step into freedom. You become less reactive, more rooted, more compassionate—and more in tune with His will.
Make space for this prayer today. Let the Spirit gently search and reshape your heart. A surrendered heart builds more than projects—it builds a life that honors Christ.
Reflection Questions:
When was the last time I invited God to examine my heart?
What patterns or blind spots might He be revealing right now?
How can I build space for honest reflection in my daily work rhythm?
Prayer
Father, search me. Expose what I’ve hidden, soften what I’ve hardened, and cleanse what I’ve compromised. Shape me from the inside out, so that my work reflects Your holiness. Amen.
