Scripture
“Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.” — Proverbs 11:13
Devotional
Confidentiality is foundational to the legal profession. Clients trust you with sensitive information, personal details, and matters that require discretion.
But confidentiality is more than a professional obligation—it is a reflection of your character.
Trust is built when people know that what they share with you will be handled with care. It is eroded when boundaries are crossed, even in small or casual ways.
Faithfulness in confidentiality extends beyond formal settings. It includes everyday conversations, internal discussions, and how you speak about others when they are not present.
Your words matter. Your discretion matters. Your integrity in this area reinforces trust not only in your professional relationships but also in your witness.
Being trustworthy means choosing restraint—even when sharing information might seem harmless or convenient.
God honors those who can be trusted with what is entrusted to them.
Reflection Questions
• Am I consistently careful with the information entrusted to me?
• Are there situations where I have been too casual with confidentiality?
Action Step
Be intentional today about what you share in conversations—pause and consider whether it is appropriate and necessary.
Prayer
Father, help me be trustworthy in all I say and do. Guard my words and give me wisdom to handle information with integrity. Amen.
