Faithfulness in Small Things [TDPOW #86]

Scripture: Luke 16:10 — “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much…”

Devotional

In God’s economy, “small” does not mean “unimportant.” Jesus teaches that faithfulness in little things reveals the kind of person you are—someone He can trust with more. Before promotions, platforms, or big opportunities, there are small tasks, unseen responsibilities, and simple acts of obedience.

At work, this may look like being on time, following through on commitments, proofreading carefully, updating records accurately, cleaning up after yourself, or responding promptly. These may not seem “spiritual,” but they are opportunities to show reliability, integrity, and care—core aspects of stewardship.

If you only give your best when something feels big or impressive, you miss much of what God wants to form in you. Faithfulness in small things prepares you for larger assignments and reflects a heart that values God’s approval more than people’s attention.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What small responsibilities might you be tempted to treat as unimportant?

  2. How could you reflect God’s character more clearly in those “little” tasks?

  3. Where might God be training you through small, repetitive acts of faithfulness?

Prayer

Lord, help me be faithful in the smallest parts of my job. Guard me from cutting corners or despising little tasks. Shape my character so that I honor You whether the assignment feels big or small. Amen.
