Scripture: “Your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” — Matthew 6:4b (ESV)
Devotional
Much of legal work happens behind the scenes—drafting documents, reviewing files, researching precedents, preparing others for the spotlight. It’s often quiet, technical, and unnoticed by the outside world. And for the Christian attorney, this hidden work may sometimes feel like it lacks spiritual weight.
But Jesus says something stunning: your Father sees what is done in secret. And He values it.
Faithfulness is not measured by visibility. God does not rank your impact by headlines or trial wins. He delights in the faithful worker who labors with excellence, even when no one sees. He honors the attorney who edits carefully, listens patiently, and prepares prayerfully.
Your hidden work can be holy ground. Every memo, every draft, every unnoticed late night—if done unto the Lord—becomes part of His Kingdom work.
In a world obsessed with recognition, let your faithfulness be rooted in God’s eyes, not man's applause. His reward is deeper than a bonus or award. It’s the joy of knowing you’re seen, known, and pleasing to the One who matters most.
Reflection Questions:
What part of your legal work feels unseen or underappreciated?
How might remembering God’s gaze reframe how you approach those tasks?
Are you willing to be faithful even when no one notices?
Prayer
Father, thank You that You see what others miss. Remind me that my quiet faithfulness matters to You. Let my hidden labor be worship, offered with joy and integrity.
