Faithfulness in the Midst of Conflict [Attorney #78]

Faithfulness in the Midst of Conflict [Attorney #78]

Scripture: “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” — Romans 12:18

Devotional

Conflict is a natural part of legal work. Disputes, disagreements, and opposing positions are not exceptions—they are expected. But how you engage in conflict sets you apart.

Faithfulness in conflict does not mean avoiding it. It means approaching it differently.

You can advocate strongly without becoming hostile. You can disagree without being disrespectful. You can pursue resolution without escalating tension unnecessarily.

The challenge is not simply managing the legal issue—it’s managing your response. Your tone, your posture, your restraint. These are the areas where your faith becomes visible.

When you approach conflict with a calm spirit and a commitment to peace, you bring stability into unstable situations. You reflect a different standard—one not driven by ego, but by wisdom and self-control.

You may not be able to control the outcome of every conflict. But you can control how you show up in it.

Reflection Questions:

• How do I typically respond when conflict intensifies?

• What would it look like to pursue peace while still advocating effectively?

Action Step: During your next conflict today, focus on maintaining a steady tone and avoiding reactive language.

Prayer

God, help me navigate conflict with wisdom and grace. Let my actions reflect Your peace, even in difficult situations. Amen.
