Scripture: “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” — 1 Corinthians 4:2 (ESV)
Devotional
In healthcare, outcomes matter. Lives are impacted by decisions, treatments, and interventions. Because of this, it’s easy to tie your sense of success—and even your identity—to results. When things go well, you feel confident. When they don’t, you may feel discouraged or even defeated.
But God’s measure of your work is different.
He calls you to faithfulness, not control over outcomes.
You are responsible for your effort, your integrity, your compassion, and your diligence—but the results ultimately belong to God. Healing, recovery, and outcomes are in His hands. This truth can be both humbling and freeing.
When you carry the weight of outcomes alone, you will eventually become overwhelmed. But when you entrust those outcomes to God, you can work with peace, knowing that He is sovereign over every situation.
Faithfulness means showing up each day with a willing heart. It means doing your best, acting with integrity, and trusting God with what you cannot control.
Your work matters—but you are not the ultimate healer. God is.
Rest in that today.
Reflection Questions:
• Do you tend to measure your success by outcomes or by faithfulness?
• What would it look like to trust God more fully with the results of your work?
Action Step: At the end of your shift, take a moment to release one situation or patient outcome to God in prayer, trusting Him with what you cannot control.
Prayer
Lord, help me to be faithful in what You’ve called me to do. Teach me to trust You with the outcomes and to find peace in Your sovereignty. Amen.
