Finding Joy in Work

Scripture: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” (Colossians 3:23)

Reflection:

Work often feels routine or overwhelming, draining us of joy. However, Colossians 3:23 reminds us that the source of joy in work isn’t the task itself or the recognition we receive—it’s the One we serve. When we focus on working for God, even the most mundane tasks gain significance and purpose.

Joy in work doesn’t come from perfect circumstances but from a heart of gratitude and service. By inviting God into our labor, we shift our focus from temporary frustrations to eternal rewards. Joy comes when we align our efforts with His will and recognize His presence in every aspect of our day.

The key to finding joy is changing our perspective. Instead of seeing work as an obligation, view it as an opportunity to grow, serve, and glorify God. Even small successes or moments of connection with others can become reasons to rejoice.

Jesus Himself found joy in His labor, knowing it fulfilled His Father’s purposes. When we follow His example, we can approach work with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and contentment, no matter the challenges we face.
