Finding Meaning in Repetition [TDPOW #30]

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:31 — “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Devotional

Not every part of your job feels exciting. Many days are filled with repetition—similar tasks, familiar routines, predictable responsibilities. It’s easy to think, Does any of this really matter? Scripture answers with a resounding yes.

When Paul says “whatever you do,” he includes the ordinary. Eating, drinking, filing reports, cleaning up, entering data, stocking shelves, changing diapers, attending meetings—all can be done to the glory of God. The value of your work is not measured by how thrilling it feels, but by the One you do it for.

Repetition becomes meaningful when it’s offered as worship. Each repeated task becomes another opportunity to practice faithfulness, patience, and excellence. Over time, those ordinary moments form a life of extraordinary obedience.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What repetitive tasks in your work feel meaningless to you right now?

  2. How could you intentionally offer those tasks to God as worship?

  3. What might God be forming in your character through these repeated responsibilities?

Prayer

Lord, help me see meaning in the repetitive parts of my work. Teach me to do even the smallest tasks for Your glory. Use the ordinary moments to shape my heart and honor Your name. Amen.
