From Mission Trip to Mission Mindset [Saturday Edition #23]
Reflect & Realign
Scripture
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23.
Devotional
For the past five days, you have intentionally approached your workplace as a mission field. You prayed for the people around you. You looked for opportunities to appreciate others. You considered what you believe and why you believe it. You intentionally served others. And you prepared yourself to speak about your faith when God opened the door.
But the Marketplace Mission Trip was never intended to end on Friday.
The greater purpose of this week was to help you begin seeing differently. The workplace you return to next week is the same workplace—but perhaps you are beginning to recognize it as something more. The people around you are not simply coworkers, customers, clients, employees, vendors, or business associates. They are people God loves, and He has placed you among them for a purpose.
Today is an opportunity to reflect on what God showed you this week. Where did you notice Him at work? Which habit challenged you most? Did you see someone differently because you intentionally prayed for them? Did serving someone create a new connection? Did God give you an opportunity for a spiritual conversation?
Do not allow these five habits to become something you practiced for one special week. Carry them with you. Pray. Appreciate others. Know what you believe. Serve others. Speak for yourself. These simple practices can become a rhythm for living faithfully in the marketplace.
The mission trip may be over, but your mission continues every time you go to work.
Reflection Questions
Where did I see God working during this Marketplace Mission Trip?
Which of the five habits had the greatest impact on how I viewed the people around me?
What can I do to continue living with a mission mindset when I return to my normal work routine?
Action Step
Write down the names of three people God placed on your heart this week. Commit to praying for them regularly and ask God to show you practical ways to encourage, serve, and build deeper relationships with them.
Prayer
Father, thank You for what You have shown me this week. Help me not to return to work unchanged. Give me eyes to see the people around me as You see them and the wisdom to recognize the opportunities You place before me. Help me make prayer, appreciation, preparation, service, and faithful conversation part of the way I live each day. Remind me that wherever You have placed me, I can serve You there. Send me back into my workplace with renewed purpose, greater intentionality, and a willingness to represent Christ in everything I do. Amen.
