Scripture: “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.” — Matthew 5:41 (ESV)
Devotional
In many workplaces, the standard is to meet expectations—complete the task, fulfill the requirement, and move on.
But Jesus calls us to something more.
Going the extra mile means serving beyond what is expected. It means looking for ways to add value, provide clarity, and support others more fully.
In banking, this could look like taking extra time to explain something clearly, following up with a client, or anticipating a need before it arises.
These actions may seem small, but they create a lasting impact. They build trust, strengthen relationships, and reflect a spirit of service that stands out.
Going beyond what is required is not about striving for recognition—it’s about reflecting the heart of Christ.
Jesus consistently went beyond what was expected. He served with compassion, attention, and generosity.
Today, look for an opportunity to go the extra mile.
Reflection Questions:
• Do I tend to do only what is required, or do I go beyond?
• Where can I add value in my daily work?
• How can I serve others more intentionally?
Action Step: Identify one opportunity today to go beyond what is expected in serving a client or colleague.
Prayer
Father, help me to serve with a willing and generous heart. Show me where I can go the extra mile and reflect Your love in my work. Amen.
