Going the Extra Mile [Real Estate Dev #66]

Going the Extra Mile [Real Estate Dev #66]

Scripture: “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.” — Matthew 5:41 (NIV)

Devotional

In development, it’s easy to do what’s required—meet the specs, hit the deadlines, fulfill the contract. But Jesus calls His followers to something higher: going the extra mile.

This mindset transforms how you approach your work. Instead of asking, “What do I have to do?” you begin asking, “What more can I do to serve well?”

Going the extra mile may look like:

  • Taking extra time to ensure quality

  • Communicating more clearly than expected

  • Solving problems proactively instead of reactively

  • Supporting partners and stakeholders beyond your obligations

This kind of service sets you apart—not just professionally, but spiritually. It reflects a heart that is not driven by minimum requirements, but by maximum impact.

Jesus didn’t do the minimum for you. He gave everything. When you reflect that same posture in your work, your projects become testimonies of His love and excellence.

Reflection Questions:

  • Where am I doing only what is required instead of going above and beyond?

  • What opportunity do I have today to exceed expectations?

  • How can I serve others in a way that reflects Christ’s generosity?

Prayer

Lord, help me go beyond what is required. Give me a heart that serves generously and reflects Your love in all I do. Amen.
