Guarding Against Burnout [Sales Professional #86]

Guarding Against Burnout [Sales Professional #86]

Scripture

“He restores my soul.” — Psalm 23:3 (ESV)

Devotional

Burnout rarely happens all at once. It builds quietly—overloaded schedules, blurred boundaries, constant mental engagement, emotional exhaustion, and spiritual neglect. In a performance-driven sales culture, this risk is very real. But your Shepherd is not just your Leader—He is your Restorer.

God cares about your soul, not just your productivity. He leads you beside still waters and makes you lie down in green pastures. That means He may prompt you to rest, to say no, to take a break, to step away from constant striving.

Guarding against burnout includes:

• Regular time in Scripture and prayer.

• Healthy rhythms of sleep, exercise, and sabbath rest.

• Honest conversations when you’re overwhelmed.

• Remembering that you are loved for who you are, not what you produce.

Let God restore your soul before you collapse. Your long-term witness and effectiveness depend on it.

Reflection Questions

What signs of burnout do I see in my life right now?

Where am I ignoring God’s invitation to rest?

What practical change can I make this week to care for my soul?

Prayer

Shepherd of my soul, restore me. Show me where I am overextended and trying to live beyond the limits You’ve given. Lead me into true rest so I can serve You with a healthy heart. Amen.
