Scripture: “Above all else, guard your heart.” — Proverbs 4:23
Devotional
Repeated exposure to financial mismanagement, ethical lapses, or careless decisions can breed cynicism. Over time, it may become tempting to assume the worst or grow hardened in attitude.
Cynicism quietly erodes compassion and hope. It narrows perspective and dims joy. Scripture calls you to guard your heart—not only against pride or envy, but also against discouragement that turns into distrust.
While wisdom requires discernment, it does not require bitterness. You can remain realistic without becoming cynical. You can maintain standards without losing compassion.
Guarding your heart means choosing hope. It means remembering that God is at work even in flawed systems and imperfect people. It means allowing truth to shape your perspective without surrendering grace.
Today, ask God to keep your heart tender and steady, even when you witness imperfection.
