Scripture: “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” — Proverbs 16:18

Devotional

Success in accounting can bring recognition, influence, and confidence. While growth and achievement are gifts from God, Scripture warns against allowing success to nurture pride.

Pride subtly shifts focus from gratitude to self-sufficiency. It tempts you to believe that expertise alone sustains progress. Yet every opportunity, skill, and accomplishment ultimately comes from God’s provision and grace.

Humility keeps success in proper perspective. It acknowledges that your abilities are entrusted gifts meant to serve others and honor God. When you guard your heart against pride, you preserve both integrity and dependence.

Success is safest when accompanied by gratitude. Regularly remembering God’s role in your journey protects your heart and strengthens your witness.

Today, celebrate growth—but remain grounded in humility.

Reflection Questions

  1. How do you respond internally to professional success?

  2. What practices help you remain humble in achievement?

Prayer

God, guard my heart against pride. Help me remain grateful and humble, recognizing that every good gift comes from You. Amen.
