Guarding Your Heart in Success [Financial Advisor #86]

Guarding Your Heart in Success [Financial Advisor #86]

Scripture: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23

Devotional

Success in your profession can be rewarding. Growth, recognition, client trust, and financial progress are all signs of diligence and discipline. But success also brings subtle risks—ones that are often harder to detect than failure.

Pride can quietly take root.

Self-reliance can replace dependence on God.

Identity can begin to shift from who you are in Christ to what you achieve in your career.

Scripture reminds us that everything flows from the heart. That means your motivations, decisions, and relationships are all shaped by what you allow to take root internally.

Guarding your heart doesn’t mean rejecting success—it means stewarding it.

It means staying grounded in humility when things are going well. It means remembering that every opportunity, every client, and every achievement is ultimately a gift from God. It means continuing to seek Him just as earnestly in seasons of success as you would in seasons of struggle.

Success is not the goal—faithfulness is.

When your heart is aligned with God, success becomes a tool for impact rather than a source of identity. It becomes something you steward, not something that defines you.

Stay anchored. Stay humble. Stay focused on what matters most.

Reflection Questions:

• How do you typically respond to success in your work?

• Are there subtle ways pride or self-reliance may be creeping in?

• What helps you stay grounded in your identity in Christ?

Action Step: Take a moment today to thank God specifically for one area of success in your work and intentionally give Him the credit. Write it down or speak it in prayer.

Prayer

Lord, guard my heart in seasons of success. Keep me humble, dependent on You, and focused on what truly matters. Help me to use every opportunity for Your glory, not my own. Amen.
