Scripture: “Let the righteous one strike me—it is a kindness; let him rebuke me—it is oil for my head.” — Psalm 141:5 (ESV)
Devotional
Performance reviews and coaching conversations can stir up nerves. Even constructive feedback can feel like a judgment on your worth. Yet Scripture invites you to view correction as kindness—an opportunity for growth rather than a threat to your identity.
When your identity is rooted in Christ, you can listen without defensiveness. You no longer need every review to validate you—you are already fully loved and accepted in Him. That security allows you to:
• Hear what is true, even when it’s hard.
• Ask questions instead of reacting.
• Thank those who invest in your development.
Not all feedback is perfectly delivered or entirely accurate, but even imperfect input can contain helpful insight. Ask the Lord to show you what to receive, what to release, and how to respond with maturity.
Humility in review moments is a powerful witness. It shows that you are more interested in growth than in guarding your ego.
Reflection Questions:
· How do I usually react internally when I receive critical feedback?
· What recent feedback might God be using to shape and sharpen me?
· How can I approach my next review with a teachable spirit?
Prayer
Father, give me humility to receive correction as a gift, not a threat. Help me separate my identity from my performance and use every review to grow me in wisdom and skill. Amen.
